Cancer as a spiritual awakening…
Last fall, I was diagnosed with melanoma—one of the deadliest forms of cancer. Two surgeries later, I’ll be the first to admit, cancer was one of the scariest, most painful experiences in my life. It was also one of the most spiritually profound.
Now, I didn’t have breast cancer as many of you have. But there were similarities, for example, I had a full lymphadenectomy, with the accompanying swelling and physical problems that often result. However, my cancer experience was much bigger than the large shark bites that surgery left on my body.
Instead, it was a spiritual awakening, during which I walked straight into the doorway of own mortality—and came out the other side with an unshakeable gratitude for the miracle of my own life so far, regardless of what might lie ahead. When we get down to this layer of awareness, that we’re souls in mortal bodies, we begin to understand that every experience is extraordinary—the good, the bad, the all of it. In this way, we open ourselves to the possibility of healing from all sources—even the sources we don’t fully understand.
I’m an intuitive, which means I tend to have mystic experiences as part of my regular work day. However, even I was not prepared for how much support the Universe provided for me during my journey—every hour, every minute that I asked for help. This help came in several ways, including: visions and messaging from Divine Beings assuring me that all was well, visits from my departed father who told me the same and a slew of what I can only call “miracles,” including healings from Divine Beings. Even though what happened to me still lies outside mainstream beliefs about healing, I believe my experience is not uncommon for those facing cancer. In fact, I believe these experiences are available to all, and they are in fact one of the main ways in which energy healing happens.
Replacing fear with peace
Even saying the word cancer brings us to a place of terror, resistance, and stress. When these feelings of low vibration take over, our body loses its ability to hold immunity. Thus, while the cancer cells are busy dividing and conquering, the mind begins to spin out into panic, right at the time when we most need to concentrate on holding a high vibrational state for healing. The first part of my healing began when I stopped allowing myself to descend into the fear state. You can learn to do this too. The secret is:
- Notice whenever you start to head into fear
- Immediately trick the brain into choosing another state
I found that meditation and mantra (a type of trance-inducing music) are ideal for this. They’re so useful I spent hours immersed in them each day. Whenever the fear came up (and believe me, it came up a lot!) I used these energy healing techniques to interrupt my brain out of anxiety, and shift it into relaxation and peace. After a while, I got to a place where simply taking a deep breath was enough to entrain me into a relaxed, peaceful state—the energy state where all healing begins. It is my sincere hope that you can get to this place too...and I'm sure you can.
